In February of 2012 Northeaster facilitated the printing and installation of seven 30”x96” display banners in the Loyola Notre Dame library at Loyola University in Maryland. Working with architect Paulina Beeche of Penza+Bailey and graphic designer Malla Leary, of Loyola University, Northeaster printed the banners on Ultra Flex in-house on their Roland DGA, then installed them using Albion hardware.
Our challenge was to create and install seven banners for a display in which no walls were provided! Banners had to remain aligned, taut and able to withstand the occasional pedestrian impact. After printing the high-resolution files provided by Penza+Bailey onto super smooth PET fabric, we finished the banners to utilize clear anodized aluminum hanging hardware with stainless steel cable. The ceiling was only .375” thick drywall, so in order to support the banners we prepared batten strips and securely anchored them into the supports above the ceiling. Decorative floor anchors were used on the carpet-covered poured concrete floors.
